II. CONJUNCTION (Liờn từ)
Liờn từ (hay cũn gọi là từ nối) dựng để kết hợp cỏc từ, cụm từ, mệnh đề hoặc cõu với nhau.
* and (và): Để nối hai động từ hay tớnh từ hoặc danh từ (một bộ phận của cõu).
E.g. 
She has a car and a house.
Cụ ấy cú một cỏi xe ụ tụ và một ngụi nhà.
Peter is intelligent, humorous and kind.
Peter thụng minh, hài hước và tốt bụng.
* or (hoặc): Chỉ sự lựa chọn hoặc đoỏn chừng.
E.g. 
Which colour do you want? Yellow, red or blue?
Bạn thớch màu nào? Vàng, đỏ hay xanh?
* but (nhưng): Chỉ sự mõu thuẫn, trỏi ngược.
E.g. 
They are rich but mean.
Họ giàu nhưng keo kiệt.
* because (bởi vỡ): Chỉ nguyờn nhõn hoặc lý do.
E.g. 
I don't buy a car because it is too expensive.
Tụi khụng mua ụ tụ bởi vỡ nú quỏ đắt.
* although (mặc dự): Chỉ sự tương phản.
E.g. 
They went for a bath although it had begun to rain.
Họ đi tắm mặc dự trời đó bắt đầu đổ mưa.
* so (vỡ vậy, nờn):
E.g. 
I felt sleepy so I went to bed.
Tụi cảm thấy buồn ngủ, vỡ vậy tụi đi ngủ.

truth /tru:θ/ = sự thật
bath /ba:θ/ = sự tắm
 Khi "th" được thờm vào một tớnh từ để chuyển thành danh từ
depth /depθ/ = độ sõu
length /leηθ/ = chiều dài
strength /streηθ/ = sức mạnh
width /widθ/ = bề rộng
 Khi "th" chỉ số thứ tự
fourth /fɔ:θ/ = số thứ 4
fifth /fifθ/ = sụ thứ 5

• “th” được phỏt õm là /ð/.

than / ðổn/ = hơn, hơn là
