 • Say Today we will learn four words having the sound u.
 • Introduce the context of the picture by eliciting from pupils.
 Step 2
 Goals: Pupils will be able to listen and repeat the unit keywords bus and 
 running.
 Recognize and say the words with flashcards. 
 Time: 3 minutes
 • Show each slide with two words: bus, running. 
 • Do TPR with each word respectively.
 Note: Ask pupils to listen, repeat and do actions 3 times.
 Step 3
 Goals: Pupils will be able to listen and repeat the unit keywords truck 
 and sun.
 Recognize and say the words with flashcards. 
 Time: 3 minutes 
 • Do the same with step 2.
 Step 4
 Goal: Pupils will be able to practice listen and repeat again the sound u 
 and all four words.
 Time: 3 minutes 
 • Have pupils listen and repeat the sound u and the words.
 • Pupils repeat in chorus, groups.
Point and say Step 1
 Goal: Pupils will be able to listen and repeat the words. 
 Time: 3 minutes
 • Have pupils listen and repeat the words once again but vary the 
 speed to have fun. 
 Step 2. 
 Goal: Pupils will be able to listen and point to the pictures. 
 Time: 3 minutes
 • Have pupils listen and point to the pictures in the book. 
 • Teacher can ask some pupils to read then others point. Lesson 2
By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to:
- say the sound of the letter U/u, the words sun, truck, bus, running and the structures ”Look at the 
____.”, ”The _____ is running/ moving.” in a chant.
- listen, recognize the words and tick the correct boxes.
- trace the letter U/u and complete the words b__s, tr__ck, s__n, r __nning. 
 Procedures Activities
 Warm-up Miming
 Goal: Warm up and revise the unit keywords. 
 Time: 5 minutes
 • Show the flashcard for each word to a pupil. 
 • The pupil does the TPR action for the word. Have other pupils 
 guess the word. 
 • After guessing the word, have the whole class repeat the word in 
 chorus. 
 Listen and chant Step 1
 Goal: Pupils will be able to read the chant lyrics
 Time: 5 minutes. 
 • Have pupils read the chant lyrics in chorus, then in groups.
 Step 2
 Goal: Pupils will be able to listen, chant and clap along. 
 Time: 3 minutes
 • Play the recording, have pupils listen and clap along. 
 • Play the recording, have pupils listen, clap and chant along.
 + Round 1. Have pupils listen and clap along. 
 + Round 2. Have pupils listen and do the TPR actions with teacher. 
 + Round 3. Have pupils listen and do the actions and chant along. 
 + Repeat round 3 several times. 
 Step 3
 Goal: Pupils will be able to chant and clap along in pairs. 
 Time: 3 minutes
 • Have pupils chant along in pairs. Lesson 3
 By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to:
 - listen and repeat the sentences ”He’s running.”, ”She’s running.”
 - say what each of the pupils (in the pictures) is doing, using ”____’s running.”
 - sing a song with the structures ”It’s a ____.” and ”The boy is ____.”
 Procedures Activities
Warm-up Goal: Warm up and revise the chant
 Time: 3 minutes
 • Play the chant
 • Have pupils listen and chant 2-3 times
Listen and repeat Step 1
 Goal: Pupils will be able to listen to the structure He/She’s. 
 Time: 5 minutes. 
 • Introduce the structure and have pupils listen and repeat. 
 • Hold up a flashcard for a boy and stick the flashcard on the 
 board. 
 • Say ”He’s running”.
 • Do the same with a flashcard for a girl. 
 • Play the recording, and have pupils listen and repeat. 
 Step 2
 Goal: Pupils will be able to recognize and repeat the structure “He’s 
 running/ She’s running.
 Time: 3 minutes. 
 • Have pupils open the book, listen and repeat.
Let’s talk Step 1. 
 Goal: Practice the structure in the Let’s talk activity.
 Time: 3 minutes. 
 • Make a model sentence
 • Have pupils say the sentence in chorus. 
 • Have pupils say the sentences in Let’s talk activity in groups of 4.
