• Point to the picture noodles and ask : What is this? • Hold the noodles flashcard, say the word with TPR action and have pupils repeat the word. • Do the same with nuts, bananas. • Stick all the new words on board in a circle and ask: What letter can you see in all 4 words? (Vietnamese when needed) • Stick the flashcard of sound n, say the sound and ask pupils to repeat Step 3 Goal : Pupils will practice listening and repeating the unit keywords Recognize and say the words with flashcards. Time 4 minutes. • Open digital book, click on the pictures. Pupils listen and repeat. • Vary the ways pupils saying the words to make the activity more fun. • Examples : Team 1: repeat in loud voice/ team 2: repeat in soft voice etc. • Teacher gives points to the teams which do it well. • If possible, ask pupils to find more words which have got letter n or the /n/ sound ( like candy, cornflake). Point and say Step 1 Goal: Practice the unit words Time: 4 minutes Pass the card game • Take all the cards from the board, put one card on the first table of each team. • Say “ Start”, have pupil holding the card stand up and say the word aloud then pass to the next pupils. The last one quickly runs to the board and gives it to the teacher. • The fastest team gets 5 points, the first runner up gets 4 points • This game can be played 3 rounds, swap the cards after each round. Step 2 Goal: Pupils will be able to point to the pictures and say. Time: 5 minutes • Hold up your index finger, demonstrate the action for Point. • Say Point and say with the TRP actions. • Point to the picture of Nick and say Nick. Have pupil point and say. • Repeat the procedure. • Vary the speed to make the activity fun. • Do the activity in groups. • Ask one or two students to point to the picture and have other pupils say the word. Game Practice Goal: Practice the words Time: 5 mins Pokemon • Pupils play in groups (each group is a ball in the game) Lesson 2 By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to: - say the sound of the letter N/n and the words nuts, noodles and bananas in a chant. - listen, recognize the words and tick the correct boxes. - trace the letter N/n and complete the words. Procedures Activities Warm-up Goal: Warm up and revise the unit keywords. Time: 5 minutes • Play: Slap the board • Use the flashcards of previous lessons to play. • Have pupils say the words aloud at the end of the game. Listen and Chant Step 1 Goal: Lead in and understand the lyrics Time: 3 minutes • Ask pupils: - Who are they? – Nam and Nick - Where are they? – In the school canteen. - What are they doing? Nam’s having nuts; Nick’s having noodle. (Vietnamese when needed) • Have people read the lyrics in chorus, in group or groups take turn to read the sentences of the lyrics. Step 2 Goal: Pupils will be able to listen, chant and clap along. Time: 3 minutes • Play the recording 2 times, have pupils listen and clap along. • Play the recording 2 times more, have pupils listen, clap and chant along. Step 3 (optional) Goal: Pupils are able to make a new chant lyrics. Time: 3 minutes • Have people work in group to replace 1 to 2 words of the chant. (Ex: Nam’s having moon – crazy and fun word is accepted) • Have pupils read their group’s new chant in front of the class. • Have pupils vote for the funniest chant. Listen and tick Step 1 Goal: Pupils will be able to listen and choose the correct pictures. Time: 5 minutes • Say Listen and tick with the TPR actions. • Play the recording and demonstrate the example. • Play the recording and have pupils do the task. Step 2 Goal: Check Time: 5 minutes • Play the recording and have pupils say the answer. • Play the recording again and have pupils repeat then give correct answer. Look and trace Goal: Pupils will be able to trace the letter. Lesson 3 By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to: - introduce a thing with the structure He’s having_________. - sing along the unit song. Procedures Activities Warm-up Goal: Warm up and revise the Unit keywords. Time: 4 minutes Game: Who’s faster? • Show the slide of food or fruit. • Have pupils say the word. • Give mark for the group that has pupil saying the word correctly and quickly. Listen and repeat Step 1 Goals: Pupils will be able to listen to the structure He’s having/She’s having.and understand the meaning. Recognize the use of HE/SHE Time: 4 minutes Introduce the structure and have pupils listen and repeat. 1. Introduce He/She • Call 1 boy and 1 girl to the front to introduce He/ She • Point to the girl and say SHE and have pupils repeat the word 3 times • Do the same with the word HE • Vary the speed of pointing to make the class more fun 2. Introduce the structure • Teacher whispers to the boy a sentence, the boy does the TPR action. • Teacher asks : What is he having? • Say: He’s having noodles. Have pupils repeat the sentence. • Do the same with the girl Step 2 Goal: Pupils will be able to recognize and repeat the structure She’s having/ He’s having. Time: 4 minutes • Have pupils open the book, listen and repeat in chorus, group then individual Let’s talk Step 1 Goal: Pupils will be able to say the sentence with She’s/He’s having . Time: 3 minutes • Have pupil open the book, activity 7, page 59. • Point to the first picture and say: He’s having nut. • Have pupils repeat the sentences. • Have people work in pairs, point and say. Step 2 Goal: Pupils will practice more the sentence in a game. Time: 3 minutes Game: Lucky number • Have representative of each group in turn choose a number.
