 • Open digital book, point the girl and say: This is Wendy, Wendy, 
 Wendy . Can you say Hi to Wendy?
 • Have pupils say Hi to Wendy.
 • Ask Pupils to describe the picture (both in English and 
 Vietnamese) by raising some questions:
 Who is this? (It’s Wendy’s father).
 What can you see in the picture? (a cat, a house)
 What are Wendy and her father they are doing?
 • Show the flashcard of Wendy and ask: What does the word 
 Wendy begin with? (W)
 • Say w then have pupils repeat many time in chorus, groups then 
 individuals.
 • Say Today we will learn some words beginning with W.
 Step 2
 Goal : Pupils are able to understand the meaning, listen and repeat the 
 unit words.
 Time: 4 minutes
 • Show the slide to pupils.
 • Say washing and do the TPR.
 • Repeat again and ask pupils to repeat in chorus, group, 
 individuals with TPR.
 • Do the same with other words. May change the volume to make 
 the reading fun.
 Step 3
 Goal: Pupils will be able to listen and repeat the unit keywords 
 Time: 4 minutes
 • Open digital book, click on the pictures. Pupils listen and repeat 
 again but do TPR when repeat.
 • Vary the ways pupils saying the words to make the activity more 
 fun.
 • Example: Team 1: repeat in loud voice/ team 2: repeat in soft 
 voice etc.
 • If possible, ask pupils to find more words which have got letter w 
 or the /w/ sound.
Point and say Step 1
 Goal: Pupils remember the meaning and say the word.
 Time: 5 minutes
 • Have pupils look at the picture.
 • Point to Windy and say Windy.
 • Then point to other things and have pupils say.
 • Have pupils do the same thing in pairs, 1 points and the other 
 says.
 Step 2. 
 Goal: Pupils are able to understand and say the word in a game.
 Time: 5 minutes
 Game: Pass the ball
 • Play a song. Lesson 2
By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to:
- say the sound of the letter W/w, the words Wendy, window, washing, water in a chant.
- listen, recognize the words and tick the correct boxes.
- trace the letter W/w and complete the words _endy, _indow, _ashing, _ater. 
 Procedures Activities
 Warm-up Goal: Warm up, revise the unit keywords and link to the chant of lesson 
 2.
 Time: 5 minutes
 Game: Mind map 
 • Have pupils play in group.
 • Divide the board into 4, each part for 1 group
 • Write each part a letter: W, T, M, H
 • In 2 mins, groups have to write down on the board as many 
 words beginning with the letter as possible.
 Listen and chant Step 1
 Goal: Review the number from 1-10 
 Time: 4 minutes. 
 • Review numbers from 1-10 :

 • Then ask pupils some questions: How many books? How many 
 cats? (prepare flashcards or picture or real objects)
 (Pupils’ answer can be short like: eight, six)
 Step 2
 Goal: Pupils will be able to listen, chant and clap along. 
 Time: 4 minutes
 Play the recording
 • Round 1. Have pupils listen and clap along. 
 • Round 2. Have pupils listen, chant and clap along.
 • Round 3. Have pupils listen, chant and do the action. 
 • Repeat each round 2-3 times in chorus, group, pair. 
 Step 3 (optional)
 Goal: Pupils can create their own chant
 Time: 3 mins
 • If possible, have pupils work in group to create their own chant 
 by replacing some words then create their own TPR.
 • Pupils say the chant in groups.
 Listen and tick Step 1: 
 Goal: Pupils will be able to listen and choose the correct pictures.
 Time: 5 minutes
 • Say Listen and tick with the TPR actions. Lesson 3
By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to 
- Ask and answer about quantity, using the structure: How manycan you see? – I can see
- sing a long the unit song. 
 Procedures Activities
 Warm-up Goal: Warm up and revise the number 
 Time: 4 minutes
 Game: I need
 • Have pupils play in groups.
 • Say I need some books.
 • Pupils ask in chorus: How many books?
 • Say the number of the books, ex: eight
 • Pupils in groups have to gather enough 8 books and give to 
 teacher
 • Fastest group wins the game.
 Listen and repeat Step 1
 Goal: Pupils will be able to understand the structure How many ..can 
 you see? I can see.
 Time: 5 minutes
 • Have pupils watch the video: HOW MANY by a song : 
 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7bjpemlfxc
 • Ask pupils in Vietnamese what question they use when they 
 want to ask about the quantity.
 • Confirm the answer of the pupils: Yes, they ask How many.
 • Show 5 pencils and ask: How many pencils can you see? 
 • Then count, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 – I can see 5 pencils.
 • Repeat the question and answer many times and have pupils 
 repeat.
 Step 2
 Goal: Pupils will be able to practice listen and repeat the question and 
 answer
 Time: 5 minutes
 • Have pupils open the book, listen and repeat.
 • Repeat in chorus.
 • Repeat in group, 1 group ask, the other answer.
 • Repeat in pairs.
 Let’s talk Step 1
 Goal: Pupils practice speaking, using the question How manycan you 
 see? – I can see
 Time: 4 minutes
 Have pupils open the book, activity 7.
 Point to the pictures and have pupils say (review the words window, red 
 pens, book, red pencils, lemons)
 Point to the picture of the window and ask How many window can you 
 see?. Invite a pupil to answer
 Have pupils repeat again
