b.Set the scence: - Procedure: +Have pupils look at the picture and describe it. Draw pupils’ attention to the letter P/p, the word next to Bill and other words next to the things and the color of the letter P/p +Ask pupils to point to the letter P/p. Have them listen and repeat the sound of the letter P/p + Show the picture and elicit the answer of who the characters are. +Tell pupils to point to the and the word pasta. Give further support to those pupils who find it difficult to do the task. + Play the recording again and have them listen, point to the letter P/p and the pasta, popcorn,pizza and repeat until they feel confident. Activity 3: -Content 2: Point and say - Procedure: +Have pupils look at the picture again, saying Look at the picture on Page 6, please! Ask them to describe the picture again. Give further support to those pupils who find it difficult to do the task. Week 2 Period 2 UNIT 1: AT MY BIRTHDAY PARTY Lesson 2 I. Objectives: * By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: + correctly pronounce the sound of the letter P/p, the words pasta, popcorn,pizza and say the sentence structure I like .. in the chant + recognise target words and sentence tructure while listening + Trace the letter p in upper case and lower case. +Write the letter P/p and complete the words pasta, popcorn,pizza - Ss can develop some following competences: + Communicative and collaborative competence: act 1, act 3, act 4 + Problem-solving competence: act 1, act 2, act 3 + Self-studying and self-control competence: act 2, act 3, act 4 + Problem-solving and creative competence: act 4 *Language focus: - Words: pasta, popcorn,pizza - Differentiated teaching: + Incomplete Ss: can recognise target words while listening + Well-completed Ss: can the hear sentence tructure while listening II. Materials: -Teacher’s: books, pictures, flashcards,CD. -Students’: books, crayons III. Method: -Communicative Language Teaching -Total Physical Response III. Teaching activities: Activity 1: Warm up -Play game: Walk and talk Activity 2: -Content 3 : Listen and chant + Encourage some pupils to point to the pictures and say the words in front of the class + Ask pupils to say what they have heard and ticked + Ask pupils to share their idea with their partner + Call some to go to the board and write their answers Activity 4: -Content 5: Look and write - Procedure: + Have pupils look at the letter P (upper case) and k (lower case). Write the upper case P and the lower case p on the board + Write the upper case P and the lower case p in broken lines on the board + Tell pupils to trace the letter P/p , saying Now use your pencil to trace the letter P/p. + Check the results of pupils’ tracing and give feedback. Ask pupils to work in pairs and swap their answers. + Ask some pupils to show what they have done. Praise them if they have done well. Consolidation: - Content: Review words and the chant + Words: pasta, popcorn,pizza + Chant - Procedure: + Ask students to answer the following questions: What have you learnt from the lesson today? What are the core values of the lesson? ( if the teacher can take from the lesson). + Praise some ss who are hard working/ active/ good. as well as encourage others to try more. + Give feedback Homework: - Learn by heart the pattern. - Review the chant - Procedure: + Have pupils look at the picture, saying Look at the picture, please! Describe the picture. + Draw pupils’ attention to the structure next to the thing, and the color of the letter P/p Have pupils point to the popcorn and listen to the recording and repeat the sentence + Then play the recording again for them to repeat individually and in chorus. Correct pronunciation + Play the recording several times again for pupils to listen and repeat the sentence + Invite a few pupils to listen and repeat the sentence “The popcorn is yummy” in front of the class. Correct their pronunciation + Have pupils work in pairs, good Ss will help the below average and average Ss. Activity 3: -Content 7: Let’s talk - Procedure: +Point to each character in the picture & elicit his/ her name & the words to fill the gaps. + Have Ss repeat the text in the bubbles a few times. + Repeat the procedure with the second picture. + Do choral & individual repetition. The popcorn is yummy. + Have Ss practice in pairs. Check as a class. + Ss practice more with their friends, using their own names. + Get Ss to repeat the text a few times. + Call a few pairs to act out the greetings & response in front of the class.
