- Procedure: + Have Ss point to the letter R/r explain that the name of the letter R/r is different to its sound /r/ +Encourage Ss to repeat several times b.Set the scence: - Procedure: +Have pupils look at the picture and describe it. Draw pupils’ attention to the letter R/r, the word rainbow and other words next to the things and the color of the letter R/r +Ask pupils to point to the letter R/r. Have them listen and repeat the sound of the letter R/r + Show the picture and elicit the answer of who the characters are. +Tell pupils to point to the and the word Raibow. Ask them to listen and repeat the word + Repeat the same procedure with the words river, and road. Give further support to those pupils who find it difficult to do the task. + Play the recording again and have them listen, point to the letter R/r and the rainbow, river,and road and repeat until they feel confident. Correct pronunciation, if necessary. +Play the recording again and call some pupils to say the letter R/r and the words rainbow, river and road in front of the class. Activity 3: -Content 2: Point and say Week 7 Period 12 UNIT 4: IN THE COUNTRYSIDE Lesson 2 I. Objectives: * By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: + correctly pronounce the sound of the letter R/r, the words rainbow, river, road and say the sentence structure “There’s a_______”in the chant + recognise target words and sentence tructure while listening + Trace the letter r in upper case and lower case. +Write the letter R/r and complete the words rainbow, river and road - Ss can develop some following competences: + Communicative and collaborative competence: act 1, act 3, act 4 + Problem-solving competence: act 1, act 2, act 3 + Self-studying and self-control competence: act 2, act 3, act 4 + Problem-solving and creative competence: act 4 *Language focus: - Structure: There’s a _________ - Differentiated teaching: + Incomplete Ss: can recognise target words while listening + Well-completed Ss can the hear sentence tructure while listening II. Materials: -Teacher’s: books, pictures, flashcards,CD. -Students’: books, crayons III. Method: -Communicative Language Teaching -Total Physical Response III. Teaching activities: Activity 1: Warm up -Play game: Find the treasure Activity 2: -Content 3 : Listen and chant Activity 4: -Content 5: Look and write - Procedure: + Have pupils look at the letter R (upper case) and r (lower case). Write the upper case R and the lower case r on the board + Write the upper case R and the lower case r in broken lines on the board + Tell pupils to trace the letter R/r , saying Now use your pencil to trace the letter R/r. + Check the results of pupils’ tracing and give feedback. Ask pupils to work in pairs and swap their answers. + Ask some pupils to show what they have done. Praise them if they have done well. Consolidation: - Content: Review the structure “ There’s a ____”and the chant - Procedure: + Ask students to answer the following questions: What have you learnt from the lesson today? What are the core values of the lesson? ( if the teacher can take from the lesson). + Praise some ss who are hard working/ active/ good. as well as encourage others to try more. + Give feedback Homework: - Learn by heart the pattern “ There’s a __________” - Review the chant Activity 2: -Content 6: Listen and repeat - Procedure: + Have pupils look at the picture, saying Look at the picture, please! Describe the picture. + Draw pupils’ attention to the structure next to the thing, and the color of the letter R/r Have pupils point to the rainboat and listen to the recording and repeat the sentence + Play the recording again for them to repeat individually and in chorus. Correct pronunciation + Play the recording several times again for pupils to listen and repeat the sentence + Invite a few pupils to listen and repeat the sentence “What can you see? I can see a___” in front of the class. Correct their pronunciation + Have pupils work in pairs, good Ss will help the below average and average Ss. Activity 3: -Content 7: Let’s talk - Procedure: + Have Ss repeat the text in the bubbles a few times. + Repeat the procedure with the second picture and the third picture + Do choral & individual repetition. S1: What can you see? S2: I can see a_________. + Have Ss practice in pairs. Check as a class. + Ss practice more with their friends, using their own names. + Get Ss to repeat the text a few times.
