 - Procedure:
 + Have Ss point to the letter er explain that the name of the letter er is different to its sound 
 +Encourage Ss to repeat several times 
 b.Set the scence:
 - Procedure:
 +Have pupils look at the picture and describe it. Draw pupils’ attention to the letter er.
+Ask pupils to point to the letter er. Have them listen and repeat the sound of the er
 + Show the picture and elicit the answer of who the characters are.
 +Tell pupils to point to the word sister. Ask them to listen and repeat the word brother, sister and 
grandmother
 + Repeat the same procedure with the brother, grandmother.
. Give further support to those pupils who find it difficult to do the task.
 + Play the recording again and have them listen, point to the letter er and 
and repeat until they feel confident. Correct pronunciation, if necessary.
 +Play the recording again and call some pupils to say the letter er and the words brother, sister and 
grandmother in front of the class.

 Lesson 2
I. Objectives:
 * By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
 + correctly pronounce the sound of the letter er , the words brother, sister and 
grandmother and say the sentence structure “He’s my brother. He’s sixteen.” in the chant
 + recognise target words and sentence tructure while listening
 + Trace the letter er in upper case and lower case.
 +Write the letter er and complete the brother, sister and grandmother
 - Ss can develop some following competences: 
 + Communicative and collaborative competence: act 1, act 3, act 4
 + Problem-solving competence: act 1, act 2, act 3
 + Self-studying and self-control competence: act 2, act 3, act 4
 + Problem-solving and creative competence: act 4
 *Language focus: 
 - Structure: “He’s my brother. He’s sixteen.”
 - Differentiated teaching:
 + Incomplete Ss: can recognise target words while listening
 + Well-completed Ss: can the hear sentence tructure while listening
 II. Materials:
 -Teacher’s: books, pictures, flashcards,CD.
 -Students’: books, crayons
III. Method:
 -Communicative Language Teaching
 -Total Physical Response
III. Teaching activities:
 Activity 1: Warm up 
 -Play game: “Slap the board”

 Activity 2:
 -Content 3 : Listen and chant - Procedure:
 +Have pupils look at the first two pictures and say what they can see. Draw pupils’ attention 
to the boxes. Check comprehension.
 +Play the recording of the first sentence for pupils to listen.
 + Encourage some pupils to point to the pictures and say the words in front of the class
 + Ask pupils to say what they have heard and ticked
 + Ask pupils to share their idea with their partner
 + Call some to go to the board and write their answers
 Activity 4: 
 -Content 5: write and say:
 - Procedure:
 + Have pupils look at the letter er.
 + Tell pupils to trace the letter er , saying Now use your pencil to trace the letter er
 + Check the results of pupils’ tracing and give feedback. Ask pupils to work in pairs and swap 
their answers.
 + Ask some pupils to show what they have done. Praise them if they have done well.
  Consolidation:
 - Content: Review the words and the chant
 + words: brother, sister and grandmother 
 + chant
 - Procedure:
 + Ask students to answer the following questions:
 What have you learnt from the lesson today? 
 What are the core values of the lesson? ( if the teacher can take from the lesson). 
 + Praise some ss who are hard working/ active/ good. as well as encourage others to 
 try more.
 + Give feedback 
  Homework:
 - Learn by heart the pattern.
 - Review the song 
 - Procedure:
 + Have pupils look at the picture, saying Look at the picture, please! Describe the picture.
 + Draw pupils’ attention to the structure “How old is your brother?- He’s sixteen.”
 Have pupils point to the pictures, listen to the recording and repeat the sentence
 + Then play the recording again for them to repeat individually and in chorus. Correct 
pronunciation
 + Play the recording several times again for pupils to listen and repeat the sentence
 + Invite a few pupils to listen and repeat the sentence “How old is your brother?- He’s 
sixteen.” in front of the class. Correct their pronunciation
 + Have pupils work in pairs, good Ss will help the below average and average Ss.
 Activity 3: 
 -Content 7: Let’s talk 
 - Procedure:
 +Point to each character in the picture & elicit the words to fill the gaps.
 + Have Ss repeat the text in the bubbles a few times.
 + Repeat the procedure with the second picture.
 + Do choral & individual repetition
 + Have Ss practice in pairs. Check as a class.
 + Ss practice more with their friends, using their own words.
