Objectives: * By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: - To listen to and understand four communicative contexts in which pupils ask and answer questions about school break time activities - To read and match four target sentence patterns with four pictures To practise the target language by playing a Miming game. - Ss can develop some following competences: + Communicative and collaborative competence: act 1, act 4 + Problem-solving competence: act 1, act 2, act 3 + Self-studying and self-control competence: act 2, act 3, act 4 + Problem-solving and creative competence: act 4 *Language focus: - Strucrure: How are you? Teaching activities: Activity 1: Warm up Game “Noughts and crosses” Activity 2: Feedback : 1b 2c 3d 4a Activity 4: -Content 6: Let’s play - Procedure: Step 1: Elicit the language that pupils need to talk about break time activities (play football, play chess, play volleyball, play word puzzles, chat with friends, play table tennis, etc.). When pupils answer correctly, write the language on the board. Step 2: Explain how the game is played: One pupil mimes the action of doing an activity. Other pupils look at him / her, guess the action and what it is, e.g. play football. Check comprehension and give feedback. Step 3: Model the game with two pupils. Do the action of playing chess. Ask the pupils to look at the action, guess what action it is and say play chess. Praise them if they answer correctly. Step 4: When pupils feel confident and are familiar with the game, divide the class into four groups. In each group, choose a pupil to do the actions while the rest guesses the words. Pupils get one point for each correct answer. Step 5: Set a time limit for pupils to play the game. The group with the most points wins. Activity 3: -Content 2: Listen and circle: - Procedure: + Have Ss read the sentences in silence. + Have Ss listen to the Cd twice and circle + Have Ss check their answers. + Write the correct answers on the board for Ss to copy down. + Have Ss practice in pairs. Feedback: 1a 2b Activity 4: -Content 3: Let’s chant UNIT 10: BREAK TIME ACTIVITIES Lesson 3 (4, 5, 6) I. Objectives: * By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: - To read the exchange and tick the correct boxes in the table about Mary’s, Lucy’s, Bill’s and Minh’s break time activities. - To use the target language in real context by completing a gapped text about their school break time activities. To revise the target language by asking and answering questions about school break time activities and talking about them to the class. - Ss can develop some following competences: + Communicative and collaborative competence: act 1, act 4 + Problem-solving competence: act 1, act 2, act 3 + Self-studying and self-control competence: act 2, act 3, act 4 + Problem-solving and creative competence: act 4 *Language focus: - Reading skill - Writing skill - Differentiated teaching: + Incomplete Ss: can do the task with 50% correct sentences + Well-completed Ss: can do task with 100% correct sentences * Attributes: Kindness: help partners to complete learning tasks Diligence: complete learning tasks Leadership: collaborate with teachers to enhance language skills II. Materials: -Teacher’s: books, pictures, flashcards,CD. -Students’: books, notebooks, crayons, pens, boards III. Method: - Total Physical Response -Communicative Language Teaching -Work individually, pairwork, groupwork III. Teaching activities: Activity 1: Warm up Game: Picking flowers - Teacher divides the class into groups of 4-5. - Teacher lets the pupils choose the question numbers 1-10 (click to the flowers next to the numbers). - When the members of groups can answer correctly, they will get points by spinning the wheel. (click to the big wheel) (points they can get: 1-4) Click to the 3-flower at the bottom to go back to the WHEEL. Activity 2: - Procedure: + Get Ss to prepare necessary school things to carry out the project. + Allow Ss time to carry out the project in class. + Get Ss to work in groups. + Call Ss to the front of the class to present the collected names & spell them. + Tell Ss to post their work on the wall of the classroom.
