1. Warm-up — Month and sport recall (4 minutes)
Learning goal: Recall language needed for today's reading.
Task content and materials
Board: November; October; badminton; football; basketball. Call October, football, November, 
badminton, basketball for pupils to point and read.
Cue: October. Ask: When's your sports day? Model: It's in October.

2. Read and tick True or False — Activity 4 (10 minutes)
Learning goal: Decide whether four statements match the passage and correct the false ones.
Task content and materials
Text: Our sports day is in November. It is in the school playground. There are many pupils and 
teachers. We play different sports and games. The boys play badminton. The girls play football. The 
teachers play basketball. It is a lot of fun!
Tick True or False:
1. The sports day is in November.
2. The sports day is in the school gym.
3. The boys play badminton.
4. The girls play basketball.
Key: 1 True; 2 False — school playground; 3 True; 4 False — football. The teachers play basketball.
These are facts about the event in the passage; they do not restrict which sports boys or girls may 
choose.

Task content and materials
Frame: Our school sports day is in ____. We play sports and games in the school playground. The girls

Teacher's Book sample, for practice: Our school sports day is in October. We play sports and games in 
the school playground. The girls play chess. The boys play football. The teachers play volleyball. We 
all love our sports day.
Use a confirmed school event when known. Otherwise label the October sample Practice event. Other 
truthful, grammatical answers are acceptable; the sample is not a fixed answer key.

4. Project — Present our sports-day poster (9 minutes)
Learning goal: Use a simple poster to communicate a month and two activities.
Task content and materials
Model poster content, for practice: OUR SPORTS DAY — OCTOBER; a bicycle and a badminton 
racket. Model talk: Our sports day is in October. I cycle. My friends play badminton.
Use the prepared notebook poster. If a pupil has no draft, allow a quick labelled sketch using the 
model; elaborate decoration is unnecessary.
Simulated caption: Our sports day is in November. Correct November to October using the 
printed month. The sporting pictures alone do not identify who plays each sport.
Fictional account: DEMO-POSTER61; password hidden. A classmate wants the poster: A — 
show the poster; B — give the password. Choose A. The username identifies the account; the 
password must stay secret.
