I. LEARNING OUTCOMES
1. Language knowledge and skills
Identify giraffes, hippos, lions and crocodiles in four listening exchanges.
Complete six gaps in animal-identification dialogues and read the full exchanges.
Sing or rhythmically say the complete song What are these animals?.

Use picture, spoken and written evidence to explain an answer; listen and take turns with a partner.

Show care for animals and respect other pupils' preferences.
4. Integrated learning

III. TEACHING AND LEARNING ACTIVITIES
Warm-up: Name the animal group (4 minutes)
Learning goal: Recall four plural animal names.
Task content and materials
Use the four A4 pictures below. Point in this order: giraffes, hippos, lions, crocodiles.
Ask each time: What are these animals?
Expected: They're giraffes / hippos / lions / crocodiles.
Board spelling check: gi_affe_ → giraffes; hi_po_ → hippos.
